Enrollment open for new 9-month certificate
New Optometric Technician Certificate Program
First in the Capital Region
Central Penn College is now accepting applications for our new Optometric Technician (Op Tech) Certificate program, only the third such program in Pennsylvania and the first for the capital region. Classes for the 9-month, 18-credit program start July 5.
The program includes didactic, laboratory and clinical components that are designed to prepare students for workplace entry as a Certified Paraoptometric Assistant (CPOA) and to be eligible to take the CPOA exam.
This certificate program will teach you how to gather an eye
health history from patients… prepare patients for examination
by the doctor… perform various visual assessments… and assist
in eye examinations, among other duties.

- Basic Optometric Science
- Basic Optometric Clinical Skills I
- Basic Optometric Clinical Skills II
- Optometric Technology and Procedures
- Ethical Practice in Optometry
- Ophthalmic Clinical Practicum
